Xaroula -- congrats on surviving a Greek x-mas and good to see that you're back blogging!

Where is Kazarma? Is this the village that is roughly half-way between Kalamata and Pylos? If so my dad is from the village next door which I visit every summer.

I've always seen those brown "Mycenaean Tholos Tomb" signs posted in the country side but I've never explored them.

Hey Paul! Actually this Kazarma is the name of a place roughly halfway between Nafplio and the sanctuary of Asclepius at Epidauros (i.e., everyone who goes to Epidauros drives right past it). The fortress is called the Fortress of Kazarma, though I don't think there's an actual village by that name.

There are some really cool Mycenaean tombs in Messenia though! You should check them out when you get back there -- especially the ones at Thouria which might be what you saw signs for.
